Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
It’s Friday! Are you excited?
Because of the blizzard and not being able to do much over the past week, all the days have kind of blended together. So the calendar might say Friday but in my head, it all feels the same! 
I do leave Monday for Down Under, though!
There’s a lot left to get done this weekend — packing, picking up little items like sunscreen, finding a couple books for the plane, goodbyes and it’s my dad’s birthday tomorrow. If I start to think about everything that needs to be crammed into the next two days, I start feeling a little overwhelmed.
Whew.
Yesterday was such a pretty day. It was amazing to wake up in the morning and see blue skies, sunshine and the house across the street. There might be 3+ feet of snow on the ground — and 6-foot-high drifts in my backyard! — but it’s still gorgeous out there.
Snow or sand, which do you prefer? I actually love winter and (almost) everything that comes with it: sitting by the fireplace, tea time, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes, my birthday, baking… But right about now, after a week of nonstop snow, the thought of sunshine and warm weather is really appealing.

My friend Olga — we studied abroad in London together! — is heading to Hawaii soon and looking for some travel advice. I’ve never been there so am passing it on to you: she’ll be on the main island of Hawaii, staying around Captain Cook, Hilo and Pahoa, and would love recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Olga and I actually got the chance to meet up for the first time since graduation last July in Australia. Since we live on different coasts now, it’s pretty funny that our reunion took place pretty much as far as you can get from the US! She traveled through NZ and Oz for 5 weeks solo last summer and has been such a great travel guide.

I love the snow- all the cozy activities that come along with it: lighting a fire, drinking hot chocolate, mainly just eating warm things I guess! But while the snow is beautiful, I can’t say I love the cold.
Warm weather and sunshine make me feel alive and vibrant. I feel motivated to do more.

I love winter but our winters are so mild that I can say that. I especially love the time right before the holidays when it is chilly and I can drink tea and sit in front of the fireplace. Those are the days I wish I lived on the East Coast!

Living on the East Coast is nice until you get hit with a week-long blizzard.
I would say winter but winter in OK means ice. Boo! I vote for spring. If it weren’t for pesky allergies, it’s the perfect combo of summer and winter. Ahhhhh . . just around the corner!
i love all seasons, and prefer to live somewhere that has a little bit of everything (which is why i didn’t last long in So Cal… sunny and 80, sunny and 75, sunny and 83 zzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
i get tired of the rain in portland, but just about that time, spring comes and there really is nothing like spring in the pacific nw!!

I’ve heard such great things about the Pacific NW and Portland in particular but never been!! Maybe this summer…?
Count me in! I’m dying for a trip! If you weren’t going to Australia, I’d make you come to Puerto Rico with me. Flights are hella cheap right now!
