Je vous aime mes amours
The cynic in me says that Valentine’s Day shouldn’t just be once a year and to be sure to tell the people that you love how you feel every day. Overall, Valentine’s Day just seems like a marketing ploy drummed up by Hallmark but hey, if it reminds people how they feel, then I’m all for that!
I’m planning to spend today with my Valentine:

Mmm… hair.

Yep, the furrier the better.

Okay, that’s taking it too far. Robin Williams is one bear-like dude. And there’s nothing wrong with that, although it doesn’t exactly float my boat. Some people are really into the hairy thing and that’s cool, I’m not here to judge. Travel, Eat, Repeat accepts anyone and everyone.
Even those ladies (and men) who hang a copy of Colt’s 2001 Hairy Chested Men calendar above their desk.

Nice ‘stache.
So back in the real world, I’m spending Valentine’s Day with friends and family which is the perfect way to spend the day before take-off. One final brunch in America with some favorites, then a family dinner. The last night in my own bed is always bittersweet — love travel, hate hostels. Ah well. I’m here to expose the not-so-glamorous and romantic side of traveling.
Actually, though, I am about to spend the morning with a guy rockin’ a little facial hair.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?

Hahaha, great post. Aaahhh, hostels. I stayed in so many hostels when I was in Europe and thinking back on them makes me cringe at times. Especially the ones that are just big open rooms with bunk beds- thinking about this now, how the hell did I fall asleep? Barcelona had some strange ones. And Amsterdam…oh boy.
I’m sure your pretty familiar with it all though and you’ll find clean, more reputable ones than I did! I wonder what my criteria was at the time- little to no safety, filth, sketchy patrons…Ha.
LOL i can’t decide whether to gag or laugh at those fur balls. ick! i agree with you about valentines day, totally a hallmark creation. i have nothing against the cheesy holiday, but i just don’t place much value on it either. hey robin williams is a local guy!
I would appreciate more visual materials, to make your blog more attractive, but your writing style really compensates it. But there is always place for improvement
