For interest, Hervey Bay was settled by one of my family in the 1800s – the whole area was a cattle property, and the original farmhouse was on Cypress St. I say house, it was more like a shed on stilts.

(Illogically, I still feel the need to apologise for our awful weather. Really, it’s not normally this wet – when it rains, we put pictures of people holding umbrellas on the third page, that’s how often it rains! Fun fact: the area of Queensland that is flooded is bigger than the state of Victoria)
