Perfection
Finally!
I’ve only made oats a couple of times this summer–who wants a hot breakfast when it’s 100* outside?!–but this morning was definitely screaming for a nice, steaming bowl of oats. And, finally, they turned out perfectly.
Lately, I’ve been like Goldilocks.

Although instead of too hot or too cold, oats have been too runny or too savory, too chewy or too clumpy. Today, it was juuuust right.
Between baking up a storm and making friends with horses this weekend, I found the time to go for a long walk one late afternoon in my mom’s neighborhood. The centerpiece of the neighborhood is a big lake that’s looped by a walking/jogging path, making it much more peaceful than trekking on the side of the road.

The days are getting shorter and I know many people are sad to see summer go, but between the cooler weather and waking up to a perfect bowl of oats, I’m ready to welcome autumn with open arms.
Does it still count as Hump Day when it’s a four-day workweek?
Tonight for dinner, I’m going to try to recreate an English favorite: a pasty. Let’s see what happens!
